Money Earning Activities
Money Earning Activities are now available for all levels. Activities are restricted based on age level. Contact your Service Unit Manager for more information.
QSP & Nuts
Congratulations to all participating troops! QSP and Ashdon Farms Nut sales occur annually in the fall.
Girl Scout Cookies - Inspired by U
Congratulations to all participating troops! Girls Scout cookies are sold annually in late winter to early spring. Did you forget to buy Girl Scout cookies this year? Contact a local troop - there may still be some available!
Cookie Booths: Please follow new procedures for organizing your cookie booth. Cookie Booth dates are March 6 - April 3. First, get permission from our Cookie Manager Gerri Holland, then get permission from the store or location where you will hold your booth. Be considerate of the owner and of other troops when scheduling. Don't forget that you are representing New Milford Girl Scouts — be safe, respectful, and have fun!
Additional Money Earning Activities
Troops must participate in Cookie and QSP sales in order to hold another money earning activity. Your must get permission from our Council (GSofCT) and Service Unit (NMGS) before starting an activity. New forms are now available online from the Council. Don't forget to refer to Safety Wise when planning your Activity. Contact your Service Unit Manager if you have any questions.
Money Earning Activity Ideas
Share your ideas with us! Send us your stories of what worked and what didn't. We will publish as many ideas as we can.- Girl Scouts do not endorse products or brands, therefore, selling items, unless they are homemade, are not valid MEAs. This includes "party" style product sales, etc. Please contact your SU Manager if you have questions. Why not make something to sell instead?
- Tag Sales or Auctions - collect donated items and make an event out of it.
- Holiday Wreaths - buy plain wreaths or wreath making materials and decorate them as a craft. Wreaths can be pre-ordered to help with planning.
- Calendars or Cookbooks - make and sell calendars, cookbooks, or poetry books. Be creative!
- Bottle and Can Drives - collect returnables and redeem them for your troop. NOTE: There are many restrictions to this type of activity — it is important to consult Safety Wise and your SU organizer before beginning. BY STATE LAW you must be 18 years of age to operate bottle and can redemption machines.
- Host an Event - ask for more information if you are interested in this type of fundraiser. This is usually done by more experienced troops and in collaboration with one or more troops. These can be a lot of work and a lot of fun! Examples are the Sweetheart Dance and Mother/Daughter Dance.
- Run a cookie booth! Try various locations around town and be creative and considerate. For first-time cookie booth troops, try selling 10% more than what your troop sold as a whole. Thin Mints and Samoas sell the fastest. Contact us for help in planning your first booth.
- Make It/Sell It - have your troop make something to sell. Sell your own hot cocoa or muffin mix, potpourri, toys, decorations, jewelry, birdhouses — the only limit is your imagination! (For food items/bake sales, you must also follow local Health Department guidelines including product labelling.)
