MONEY EARNING ACTIVITIES
|
Money Earning Activities are now available for all levels. Activities are restricted based on age level. Contact your Service Unit Manager for more information.
New Banking Procedures
New banking and insurance procedures are now in affect -- if you have any questions, please talk to your SU Organizer or contact Kaye.
QSP & Nuts
Girls sell magazine subscriptions and candies in fall. Please renew with a local troop.
Girl Scout Cookies
Cookies will be delivered during Girl Scout Week, the 2nd week of March. Check with your SU Organizer or Cookie Chair for information!
Cookie Booths: Please follow new procedures for organizing your cookie booth. First, get permission from our town co-ordinator, then get permission from the store or location where you will hold your booth. Be considerate of the owner and of other troops when scheduling. Don't forget that you are representing New Milford Girl Scouts -- be safe, respectful, and have fun!
Additional Money Earning Activities
Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors can hold 1 additional activity each year. Troops must participate in Cookie and QSP sales in order to hold another activity. For troops planning special trips, an additional fundraiser may be held with Council and Service Unit permission.
Download this form which includes Guidelines for Troops. Don't forget to refer to Safety Wise when planning your Money Earning Activity. Contact your Service Unit Manager if you have any questions.
Money Earning Activity Ideas For Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors
Share your ideas with us! Send us your stories of what worked and what didn't. We will publish as many ideas as we can.
LIVE & LEARN! Who knew we could make a mistake? But we did! Product sales are NOT allowed for Girl Scouts. This includes any branded products. Please contact your SU Organizer if you have questions. Why not make something to sell instead?
Tag Sales or Auctions - collect donated items and make an event out of it.
Holiday Wreaths - buy plain wreaths or wreath making materials and decorate them as a craft. Wreaths can be pre-ordered to help with planning.
Calendars or Cookbooks - make and sell calendars, cookbooks, or poetry books. Be creative!
Bottle and Can Drives - collect returnables and redeem them for your troop. NOTE: There are many restrictions to this type of activity -- it is important to consult Safety Wise and your SU organizer before beginning. Also, by state law, you must be 18 years of age to operate bottle and can redemption machines.
Host an Event - ask for more information if you are interested in this type of fundraiser. For more experienced troops and usually done in collaboration with one or more troops, these can be a lot of work and a lot of fun!
Run a cookie booth! Try various locations around town and be creative and considerate. For first-time cookie booth troops, try selling 10% more than what your troop sold as a whole. Thin Mints and Samoas sell the fastest. Contact us for help in planning your first booth.
Make It/Sell It - have your troop make something to sell. Sell your own hot cocoa or muffin mix, potpourri, toys, decorations, jewelry, birdhouses -- the only limit is your imagination! (For food items, you must also follow local Health Department guidelines.)
Don't forget that all Money Earning Activities must get Service Unit approval AND Council approval. Check Safety Wise and the Forms page for the forms you will need for your activity.
