Here’s more info on everything we did:

"Wildman" Steve Brill— We found out how delicoius Jewel Weed, Wood Sorrel, Garlic Mustard, Autumn Olive and Black Birch are. We learned that Wild Carrot is delicious if it smells like carrot—if it smells like a dead mouse, it’s hemlock (think Socrates) and that you should only eat Wild Parsnip if you know how to spot it unless you’d like to die a painful death. “Wildman” Steve also reminded us that ripe berries are delicious and unripe berries taste terrible and that wild fox grape has two seeds and tendrils. We discovered which mushrooms are good to throw at trees and which are good to feed to teachers you don’t like. We also learned that nature is fun and delicious, that we have to take good care of nature and why we should care about global warming. We also learned how to make music in the woods. For more information visit: www.wildmanstevebrill.com

David Paton & Friends—We enjoyed some great music and learned about contra dancing with Linnea. For more information visit: www.folk-legacy.com or for more information about Contra Dancing visit: www.conntras.org

McCarthy Observatory—Even with cloudy skies, we learned about different types of telescopes. For more information visit: www.mccarthyobservatory.org and be sure to visit their Links page for more information. Watch for their free “Second Saturday Stars” events.

Camp Cooking—We learned that you can make a breakfast stew or breakfast in a paper bag and apple crisp. For more information, go to www.gsofct.org and get camp certified if you aren't already!
